Dheer Rajput/Firozabad: Actually, for food lovers, every corner of Firozabad is famous for something or the other. But in the city, near the clock tower, there is a very famous stall selling lentil mangodas. Where Mangodas are prepared purely from Moong Dal. This cart is many years old and there is a lot of crowd at the cart in the evening. Mangodi lovers come from far and wide to taste it.
Pawan Kumar, a shopkeeper selling Mangode near Ghantaghar, told that his cart is famous far and wide by the name of Shri Trilokinath’s Famous Mangode. He has been doing this work for almost 60 years. Earlier his father used to sell mangoda of pulses. At that time their price used to be 1 rupee, after father, now he himself is setting up a mangoda stall at the same place. Currently their price is Rs 300 per kg. People come in the evening to eat it and the mangoes from their cart have been packed and taken to customers as far as Saudi Arabia.
This is how mangodi is made
The shopkeeper told that he uses pure spices and prepares them in mustard oil. To make Mangodi, first of all mix peeled moong dal, finely chopped green chillies, red chilli powder, fennel powder, salt as per taste, musk fenugreek and green coriander, then fry it in a pan of hot oil till it becomes light red. Mangodi is ready as soon as it is fried on low flame. He himself grinds and prepares the spices to be added to Mangoda at home and also gives chutney to eat along with it.
Mangoda stall is sold only for four hours
Pawan, a shopkeeper selling mangoes, told that he sets up his stall from 6:00 pm in the evening and makes and sells mangoes till 10:00 pm. People come to him from many places including Firozabad, Agra, Etawah, Mainpuri. People from other states also demand their Mangos. Many people from Ajmer have come to Firozabad to eat their Makodas. And in just 4 hours they earn thousands of rupees.
